MHI Vestas Offshore Wind
Increased focus on employee competence development has paved the way for a new learning portal at MHI Vestas Offshore Wind.
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is a joint venture consisting of Vestas and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. MHI Vestas Offshore Wind is known for being behind the world's most powerful, series-producing offshore wind turbine, V164. MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has +2500 employees in production at the company's three factories, or as offshore employees for the establishment of offshore wind farms.
In the process of delivering the best offshore wind turbines on the market, continuous development of the employees' skills is essential. In order to improve the systemisation of this process, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind wanted to combine all competence development offerings into one system; everything from onboarding and safety certifications to continuing education presented easily and dynamically to the individual employee. Nothing less!
Accessibility is important
In order to realize this vision, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind has created a digital learning portal from Fellowmind, which has been adapted to meet the need for renewal of the administrative process behind learning and development. The learning portal is thus designed to facilitate both online and traditional teaching and peer training in factories and offshore locations. Wherever you are and however you learn, accessibility on all types of devices is a natural necessity.
The reason for building the learning portal has therefore been to ensure the best experience for the individual employee. Thus, the goal has been that the employee can clearly follow his or her own development and is continuously met by courses and training opportunities that are adapted to his current tasks and competencies - and that can be adapted continuously from the portal's administration panel.
"The Learning Portal - MVOW Development Central - from Fellowmind now gives us the opportunity for digital management of training documentation across our production facilities and service sites. It has become much easier to handle our responsibility as an ISO certified company. The next step is the development and curation of course and training material so we can also use MVOW DC as the next generation learning platform – NGLP" , Ronnie Vindbjerg Pedersen, Head of Training, Development & HR PMO, MHI Vestas Offshore Wind points out.
Fully updated platform and integrated with Office 365
The learning portal is offered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) integrated in Office 365 with single sign-on. Fellowmind ensures that the platform is fully operational and constantly updated with new functionality, courses and training material on Microsoft software. The learning portal supports the customer's own learning material and employees can also be trained in making their own courses and training videos.
